2 of 3 people found the following review helpful A decent light weight folding bike, April 6, 2011 By SH (NY, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dahon Jack D7 Folding Bike (Shadow) (Sports) First of all I am not a bike expert - take my word what it is worth for. I bought Dahon Jack D7 in May 2010 and have put on about 900 miles on it. I wanted to drop a few pounds and found it too daunting to jog for an hour daily. Instead, I bought this bike as a lazy man's work out machine. I rode an average of 300 miles per month for 3 months during last summer and fall on bike paths around Pelham parkway - Shore road - Orchard beach area in the Bronx. I must say that I enjoyed riding this bike. More importantly, it didn't need any maintenance during this time, except inflating the tires couple of times. It held on pretty well. For the coming season, I got it serviced (before 1 year free servicing assurance it came with ran out) already. On the plus side it's light, sturdy, and feels comfortable for a 180 lb guy. It runs pretty smooth on mud roads and bike paths. Schwalbe Big apple tires are pretty good (and pretty fat) and you do not need the extra balance/expertise of the Pros to... Read more
2 of 3 people found the following review helpful Best Christmas Gift Ever, March 9, 2011 By This review is from: Dahon Jack D7 Folding Bike (Shadow) (Sports) I had a nice bike a few years ago that was stolen, so imagine my surprise when my wife purchased this bike for me.
The first thing I noticed was that the bike was flat black. The second thing I noticed was how small this bike was in it's folded position.
The only thing I didn't love was the price. I wanted to take it back, however, there is a saying; "you get what you pay for." While I wouldn't pay $599 for a bike, the place where she purchased this bike offers lifetime repairs, free flat repairs and some other bonuses. In three years this bike will pay for itself.
It's expensive, but it's worth it., October 5, 2011 By This review is from: Dahon Jack D7 Folding Bike (Shadow) (Sports) This is my first bike. I was looking for a bike to exercise and commute to work. To my surprise, I have at least 3 people stopping by to tell me what a nice bike I have. I told them "Really?" Because I don't see any difference in it. It's just... a folding bike. But one guy told me that he mountain bikes, and he knows what a good bike is, and what I have is a very good bike. May be because I don't know much about bikes. I just needed a folding bike that is convenient and easy to fold and fit into my car trunk. To me, it's worth the price. However, this is not a racing bike. Now I'm starting to think about getting a racing bike. But... it's hard to give up this easily folding bike that I have so many compliments on.
